On the occasion of Valentine’s Day, Laeka invites you to take an interest in the question of love and seduction among our animal friends.

As you probably know, they feel emotions and are capable of great affection for each other but also for us. Anyone who has lived with a dog couldn’t say the opposite, they are beings capable of unconditional love.

Yet, there are also many animal species that live in pairs. For exemple, those famous lovebirds that live in couple because they cannot stand loneliness and let themselves perish if they end up alone. The gibbon, a species of great ape, is monogamous, it forms a couple united for life. This is very rare among mammals, because only a little less than 10% of the species live in pairs. In particular primates where 15 to 29% of species is favoring monogamy.

Seduction among animals shows itself in a thousand different ways. We can observe in many species, incredible seduction techniques to impress their partner at the time of mating season.

One of the most original animal seduction techniques is the Manakin’s, a bird originated in Central America. When the breeding season arrives, he uses a tree branch as a dancefloor to perform an astonishing choreography, akin to Michael Jackson’s “moonwalk”, to seduce his partner. Quite impressive as a performance.

The peacock also has a magnificent courtship display when it fanned out its long tail of shimmering blue and green feathers to charm females. It’s up to the latter to decide whether she is impressed or not …

The animal world is full of ingenious and original seduction techniques : offerings, shouting, courtship displays, songs and other acrobatic pirouettes and ballets, animals are an incredible source of inspiration if you are lacking an idea for Valentine’s Day…

Beautiful day !
